I've been a makeup fanatic since early high school. Whenever a school dance was fast-approaching, my Dad would take me to the MAC counter and I'd tell all the Sales Associates about the dress I planned on wearing. The associates would give me suggestions on which shadows and lip colors would pair perfectly, and my Dad would help me pay for them. By increasing my makeup collection like this a few times each year, my passion for makeup has also grown more and more over the last 12 years.
Fast forward to today, and I've got quite a stockpile of single eyeshadows! I bought myself the infamous Alex drawers to sort and store all of my makeup, but after a few years, the top two drawers that held all of these individual shadows were hardly being opened. Instead, I kept reaching for my more compact and recently purchased palettes. So, I thought to myself - let's make sure ALL of your makeup gets used, and remove these shadows from their individual casings and pop them into a Zpalette for ease of use. This has freed up space in my drawers to spread out my makeup so I can actually see everything I have. Plus with all of my empty containers, I get to add to my collection even more!
Here's what you'll need to depot your individual shadows, and keep in mind this concept works for more than just MAC! You can depot other shadows from NYX, ELF, Urban Decay, palettes and much more! Check out the video at the top of this post to see a step-by-step process of how to do this at home.
Don't forget that once you've got your beautiful ZPalettes, you can take any MAC casings back to a store or counter to get some new free makeup! If you take them back to a counter within a department store (like Macy's or Nordstrom), every 6 casings will earn you a new MAC lipstick. If you recycle the cases back to a free-standing store, you have your choice of a lipstick, lipgloss or eyeshadow. If you're lucky, you might be able to trade them in for other items of equal value too! I hope this inspires you to transfer your shadows now that it's not as intimidating! Let me know what you think!
