Remember that rule your Mom always told you?  Never wear white after Labor Day?  I don't know if you've noticed, but there's been a lot of rule-breaking going on lately and I think it's time to get in on the action.  Sure white is usually reserved for summer, but I'm ready to break that long-standing fashion rule and "winterize" my white clothes.  After all, my home state of Michigan was rocked with 10 inches of snow this past weekend, so white is a really prevalent color around here!

I paired my white, stretchy jeans from the Gap with some seriously warm and wintry gear to create a casual, on-trend look.  I cuffed the skinny jeans slightly to hit at the top of my favorite new black fringe booties from Sam Edelman - a score from the recent Nordstrom sale!  To keep the white to a minimum, I grabbed an awesome charcoal, heathered grey turtleneck tunic.  I slightly tucked in the front portion to show off my waistline a bit more, creating that slouchy-but-styled effect.  The temperatures here are dipping below freezing already, so I threw on this comfy oversized plaid poncho from Target.  I brought some more burgundy into the look (not Ron Burgundy!) with my floppy hat. I highly recommend one of these - they're great for days when you don't want to worry about your hair! The bib necklace makes a sassy statement and rounds out the look.  If you're petite like me, don't let an oversized, boxy poncho or sweater scare you away.  Find ways to make it work for you.  You can belt it or leave it open - the goal is to show off your waistline (like I did here by tucking in my turtleneck).

I grabbed some of my go-to gold accessories to top off this outfit.  My favorite of the bunch?  My brand new Apple Watch cuff from The Ultimate Cuff - it really dresses up my watch and is so unique!  I've received lots of compliments and attention on it already.  If you've been looking for something like this - definitely give this piece a try.  I even have a discount code (EMILY20) that you can enter at checkout for 20% off your purchase!  Another favorite are my stackable mix-n-match Melanie Auld rings.  The grey and white-toned stones work well with my outfit, with the unusual settings and varieties allowing for all kinds of combination options. The bag is an oldie-but-goodie find from Nordstrom Rack, so it's unfortunately not available anymore.  Look for a cool bucket bag in black - or if you're feeling feisty, go for a fun texture - velvet has been super hot this season!

It's crunch-time - we're only 12 days away from Christmas, can you believe it?!  A look like this is great for a last-minute gift-buying trip to the mall, or even for a holiday house party.  You'll be warm and cozy while decking the halls in the perfect holiday combination!
